Hands are scouts floating around at the ends of our limbs, sending signals back to our brains about the world around us. Using cartoonish shapes, skin-like tones, and pastel colors evoking shades of sunsets and ice cream, this piece asks us to think about our own desire to touch and be touched, and to find pleasure in the tactile world around us. In creating this piece, I gathered materials that have all been touched before and even worn on bodies; much of the fabric came from discarded clothing. The piece is intended to be touched, sat upon, or otherwise snuggled with.
